This is not an episode of Riverdale. It’s really a back-door pilot for a new Josie & The Pussycats TV series. And we’re actually cool with that because this is better character development from these writers than we’ve seen in years. In about 5 or 6 minutes they manage to re-establish all three Pussycats, make them into full-fledged characters, and even have Josie sing a Celine Dion song. But for all the fun flashbacks and genuinely heartfelt moments, these writers can’t help but be lazy with the tropes, the writing, and the weirdness. So much so that we had to start a counter for every moment they phoned it in. Put on your cat ears and get ready to sing your heart out as we celebrate “Chapter 91: The Return of the Pussycats” this week on The Doghouse.
