Once again we have jumped to a plotline that might have been entertaining back in Season 2 or 3 but now just reads as a desperate ploy to save Ethel. And still, this show can’t get Ethel Muggs right, because she once again has to be the frumpy loner no one will ever love. Setting aside the fact that there’s still only five episodes left of this forsaken show, Shannon Purser is a delight and a treasure and Riverdale has just sort of thrown her and this character under a bus at any convenient moment. So despite some small hints at what’s to come, we wasted one more hour trying to justify Ethel as a trauma prop. Do better, Riverdale. We discuss “Chapter 132: Miss Teen Riverdale” this week on The Doghouse!
